1.) What's Leaving the Blog in 2017
Although I do review books and graphic novels on occassion, book blogging isn't exactly my niche, so I'm not going to be doing anymore book or media tags. The ones that are already up will remain where they are, but I'm certainly not planning on doing anymore.
I'm also going to be discontinuing Tuesday Talks and Top 5 Wednesday posts. They were fun while they lasted, and they gave me things to talk about in a short span of time to get my writing juices going, but now I feel like they're just a weekly annoyance that I mostly forget about when I'm planning some of my longer posts, and I've just grown bored of them. Starting on January 1, the TT | T5W page will be deleted along with all the posts that I've written for it. I won't be transferring them to another part of the blog or anything like that, they're done for. If you enjoyed those posts, I'm very sorry.
2.) What's Staying on the Blog in 2017
I'm want to do more My Internet Faves like what I did for with PixieTonic because there are a lot of great people doing great things online that don't really get the recognition they deserve and I want to do my part in helping them out and also showing others that there are diverse content creators out there.
Penny for Your Thoughts and Monthly Recommendations are still going to be around as well.
3.) What's Coming to the Blog in 2017
More consistent writing on all of my pages. By eliminating Tuesday Talks and Top 5 Wednesday, I free up more time to plan and to post reviews, more Your Theory Sucks pop culture related posts, more Diversity for All posts, just more of everything that I definitely want to write about.
I also want to try and turn Diversity for All into the collaborative project that I envisioned it to be when I first came up with the concept. I've been thinking about and tossing around different topics about diversity and representation in the media in my mind for a long while, and I'm always on the lookout for more opinions and presepctives on these subjects, because the conversations going on now don't nearly cover as much of what we're trying to gain from having these discussions as they could be, so in the future I would like to put out calls for submissions on posts or host Twitter chats for different topics related to representation, characters, world building, and other aspects of storytelling. I don't know when that will happen, but it's going to happen, I promise.
The way I have everything set up in y head right now, my posting schedule for 2017 should look something like this:
4.) Blogging Goals for 2017
Blog wise, just to produce more quality content that people can enjoy and relate to.
I want to read more feminist literature as well as more Young Adult because I took a bit of a break from YA in the latter half of 2016. I'm aiming to just read ten books this year. Last year my goal was 30 and I got nowhere near that goal, I felt so silly. Ten is definitly much more manageable. If I can manage to do that that means that you'll have at least ten reviews from me this year.
Same goes my anime and movie reviews. Since there aren't a great number of movies that I'm looking forward to in 2017, my goal for recapping and reviewing anime this year will be at least 7, and I already have some lined up for that.
For Diversity for All I want to publish at least one essay a month on a diversity related topic. Last year, I tried writing two essays a month, and that didn't work too well in my favor.
Basically, I'm toning down all my goals from 2016 so that 2017 is a much less stressful time. Between college and the anti-Christ's presidency, things are already going to be trying enough this year, I don't need to make it any harder on myself.
There you have it, my third update and my 2017 blogging goals; short, sweet, and to the point. I'll be back very soon with my "Most Anticipated ... of 2017" list on Wednesday or Thursday, so be on the lookout for that. Until then, have a fantastic day!!! BYE!!!
